Lunar eclipse

August 28th's eclipse started at almost 2:00 a.m., and it wasn't full until almost 3:00 a.m. On a work night. On a work night when I've got to take the girls to school to school the next morning. Does that stop me--uh...no. It's a couple days later now, and I'm paying the "sleep tax" for enjoying myself.

Was it worth it? Definitely! Only during full lunar eclipse can you really *see* that it's a sphere. All the rest of the time, no matter how partial or full it is, it still only looks like a circle (or part thereof). And it's not that I like looking directly at the moon during the eclipse, no, it's more like looking at the entire environment and seeing this huge sphere hovering up above. Watching it from my back yard, as I did on Tuesday morning, makes it all that much more rewarding, because of the house and the trees. The lateness of the night added to the total experience, the moon was very high in the sky this time.
